This history is from several breeders that I have spoke to and got email from. I am trying to be as accurate as I can about.

Like any new mutation, it's always a an accident or an accident waiting to happen. The birds appear in someone's back yard about 10 years ago circa 2001. That someone happens to be Felix from Tampa Florida. To me, this was an accident waiting to happen. Felix has a few large aviaries that house all eye-ring lovebirds in the same aviary. The aviary roof is a metal roof. The side is just made from 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch screen. There were the black mask lovebirds, the fischer mask lovebirds, the black cheek lovebirds, and the Nyasa. When these were hybriding among each other, this is an accident waiting to happen. By hybriding for so many generation, the yellow pigment appeared on some of the birds. To most top breeders, most likely, they will see the bird as a bird with bad colors and will most likely sell them out to pet people. But because Felix kept the bird and continue to let them breed that way, more yellow pigment appears on more of the birds. When the birds with the yellow pigment begins to breed, some birds will look the black mask family and some will look somewhat look like the fischer family. As every top breeders kown, when the babies come out from the hybrid eye-ring birds, they seems to take characteristics of the black mask and the fischer family. This is also the main reason why most top breeders will try to avoid hybriding the black mask with the fischer mask family. Because after you hybrid them, and you want to breed them back to look more like the black mask or the fischer mask lovebirds take about 3 to 4 generation. To do that, you also need to have a clean blood lines of black mask or the fischer mask lovebirds to do so.

From what I know, after a few years, the yellow mutation from Felix didn't go nowhere because he didn't have a clean gene of black mask or fischer mask lovebird. Most of the babies were the hybrids of the two. He ended up asking Roger for help. Even with Rogers help, the program didn't progress anywhere. Because Roger was not really a bird breeder. He was more of a bird importer. He just import expensive birds from other countries and sell them. He has been selling expensive birds here in California for years.

After that, Felix must have ask someone else for help because a few years later, he came up with many different color mutations of the par blue in the black mask and in the fischer mask family. Also, the birds must have been sold to many other breeders as well. Because the par blue starts to appear everywhere else all over the United States and Puerto Rico. And they are creating some beautiful new color mutations from this birds. From this new mutation, breeders are able to create the creamino eye-ring and the cream eye-ring. The challenge is of course is to see who can create more different color mutations from this new mutation.

As far as I know, this new mutation exist in the United States and Puerto Rico only. I might be wrong. But through my research, I have not seen them anywhere else. Soon, they will be all over the world. .......

What is a par blue?

A par blue is just another blue series eye-ring. If you are working with the fischer, instead of white color on the mask, the color will be yellow. Also, because the color is yellow, the color of the blue color also change to blueish yellow. That is the main reason why we called them par blue. Since the mutation was probably a hybrid between the black mask and the fischer mask family, it will take a few more years to clean up the genes. Whether you want the par blue to be more like the black mask family or the fischer mask family, you need to continue on that path to make them more closer to that mutation.

This mutation are now available in many new color mutations like the cobalt fischer, the medium blue fischer, and the violet fischer. Also, they are avialable in the dilutes as well as the pied series. It's the same for the black mask family. With this new mutation, breeders now able to create the new creamino mutation of the eye-ring. Soon this new mutation will be all over the united states. Especially now that I got my hands on them, it can only means one thing. The price will definitely be very competitive soon.

If you are planning to get into this new mutation, please do your research. Just like I have mentioned before, there are lots of hybrids between the opaline peachface and the fischer mask family to create the same look. However, the hybrids between the two can only produce steril babies. Good luck and practice good breeding habits.
